Looking for the best places to visit in Rome? This concise guide of the best places to go, things to see and food to eat in Rome will help you plan and make the most of your trip!
This was my favourite city break. Big cities like London, Paris, Berlin and Barcelona feel very similar but Rome felt entirely different.
Things to do
The Pantheon was surprisingly my favourite. The Coliseum and Trevi fountain were magical too but the scale of the pantheon amongst little Italian city houses was astounding.
Things not to do
Unfortunately we queued for 90 minutes to get into the Vatican but I was completely ignorant of the dress code waiting there in my little summer dress. When the guard turned us away I had to walk past many tutting nuns if I’m lucky enough to go to Rome again the Vatican will be on my to do list.
Other tips
- We booked flights and hotel with easyJet who I try to book most my weekend breaks my with.
- Some people said Rome was really expensive and I’m not sure if this is because I’m from London I didn’t find this. I’m sure there are top class expensive restaurants but we had pizza and wine/ beer opposite the Coliseum and it was €12 each.
- My best advice would be indulge yourself! We had pizza pasta and gelato every day and didn’t regret a bite
- I put on 6.6lb in 3 days (so a literal food baby) but hey when in Rome 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
