Rather than staying at the city most convenient to fly to, taking a train a few hours out and staying in a town can be so much more rewarding.
Swapping Milan for Lake Como, Perth for Margaret River or Ljubljana for Bled you’ll get to experience smaller town charm, amazing food and nature 🍃

🏖️ Man O’War is my favourite for swimming as well as the dramatic view you get from above

🌊 Butter Rock reminds me of Great Ocean Road, a solitary apostle!

🏝️ Durdle Door is the famous star of the show, now featured in Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling. It was a great day to take a camera as the beach was closed for stair repairs so it was completely empty

One of the most visited blog post: Best places in One of the most visited blog post: Best places in the world to swim with turtles 🐢🫧 🏝️

Philippines- saw several turtles on a 3 week trip in some of the clearest water I’ve ever snorkelled in
Western Australia- namely, the Ningaloo Reef is one if the best snorkelling spots in the world for turtles, manta rays and whale sharks
Fiji- I don’t have a photo but after we jumped off the top of Cloud 9 floating beach club a turtle swam up to us which was so so special 🫶🏽
Similian Islands- in Thailand, you can do a long day trip from Phuket or a diving live board as you cannot stay overnight on these beautiful and well protected islands
Great Barrier Reef- Australia makes it onto the list for a second time- you can swim with turtles scuba diving the reef or snorkel in more sheltered islands like Green Island or Fitzroy. We got told turtles and sharks don’t stick to the same part of the reef you see one or the other…

Beautiful part of the world to spend the first wee Beautiful part of the world to spend the first weekend in Spring 🌞 🐚 🌊

This beach is next to Durdle Door on the Jurassic Coast, even when the weather is not playing ball it makes a great hike and when it is you can have a glorious beach day. The first cove is mainly stones and when you walk to the second (over the rocks) it goes to sand (but you have to be very careful with the tides at that part).

Whether you’re fuelling up to hike in southern Pat Whether you’re fuelling up to hike in southern Patagonia or take on an expedition to Antarctica, there are plenty of charming food spots in Ushuaia, the claimed southern most city in the world 🗺️

🍻 Patagonia Brewery 🍻
Local ales and pales, complimentary popcorn and melted provoleta cheese 🫕

☕️ Vagon Cafe 🥐
The perfect cosy cafe for a hot chocolate and pastry to warm up after a chilly walk. Also great wifi if you want to catch up after a few days off grid (not all hotels have working WiFi)

🍔 Hard Rock Cafe 🍔
I find Hard Rock Cafe chains to be a bit hit and miss but I couldn’t knock this burger it was delicious and reasonably priced. Also if Ushuaia is not the southern most city this certainly is the southern most Hard Rock Cafe!

🍽️ Ramos Generales 🍽️
This place is so popular I recommend visiting before or after peak lunch hour. Delicious home cooked style meals I wasn’t overly hungry when visiting so enjoyed an Argentinian style hot chocolate (hot milk with a chocolate bar to stir in) and beef empanadas

Summing up the last two years in 10 posts feels li Summing up the last two years in 10 posts feels like glossing over a lot!

But it captures a shift from full time travel to working full time abroad in 2024, back to backpacking in 2025 before returning home to the UK 🇬🇧

While I decided not to go down the Aus PR route, but can see why so many do, it was still such a good experience of moving and “starting over” in a new country. Plus it meant coming home I appreciate it here so much more! Have tried to capture as much of the lifestyle I had the other side of the world here including road trips, coffee shops/bakeries and time outdoors (even if it is raining..)

While there are no plans for long term travel the next few years, looking forward to booking more city breaks and saving for shorter (2-3 week) but more niche adventures each year rather than spreading those funds over several months.

Literally 2 weeks after getting home from watching Literally 2 weeks after getting home from watching seals in the wild in Antarctica I saw seals from Southend Pier! Common harbour seals and grey seals can be found in the Thames Estuary but you’re very lucky to spot them 🦭

There were more than 10 around the pier, so for those who had walked the longest pier in the world got a great view! You wouldn’t have seen them from the shore so was definitely a case of right place right time 🩶

My favourite neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, full of cafes, restaurants and street art to enjoy.

Some highlights were:

🥩 Don Julio restaurant, previously named best steak restaurant in the world
🍳 Casa Dingo cafe, great aussie brunch spot

While Antarctica is the only uninhabited continent While Antarctica is the only uninhabited continent there is so much wildlife to see 🦭 🐋 🐧

The two main mammal groups are seals and whales, we were lucky enough to see the top 2 predators of Antarctica: killer whales and leopard seals!

While there were also a number of birds we saw, the main group everyone who comes to Antarctica wants to see is… penguins! In the peninsula we saw the main 3: gentoos, chinstraps and adelies ❤️

Any wildlife spotting in natural habitats is a privilege not a guarantee to see so we were super lucky ✨
