Vienna Christmas market

Vienna, Austria

Looking for the best places to visit in Vienna? This concise guide of the best places to go, things to see and food to eat in Vienna will help you plan and make the most of your trip!

  • Did the snow this week get anyone else briefly thinking about Christmas markets?
Over a brief one night trip to Vienna (through easyJet) we managed to pack in:
Christmas market at City Hall Square- drank some Apfelpunsch in a little shoe
  • Visited a Heurige: traditional food such as schnitzel and sauerkraut with the past summer’s wines (we felt like very cultured 20 year olds at the time)
  • Coffee and cake at Cafe Prueckel. Great opportunity to try the Sachertorte- a Viennese speciality.
  • Saw the Music Association building and if revisited would love to see a concert
  • Like most European cities the train/tram system is fantastic and you can see a huge amount in a short space of time.
With every coffee you get a small pastry and a glass of water with no extra charge
December was very very cold so would advise thermals under clothes so it doesn’t distract you from the beautiful city.
