Exploring Perth’s Secret Bars

In the suburb of Northbridge in Perth’s CBD, there a a number of hidden bars and speakeasy’s that make this quiet daytime neighbour hood a lively and fun night out.

How to find these secret bars

There are a number of articles online listing the different hidden bars including

To name a few

For Sneaky Tony’s you will need a password to enter which is posted on their instagram every weekend.

What’s it like at these secret bars?

We started our night at Lucky Chan’s which has the shop front of a laundrette where staff let you in the door. They have a lovely cool restaurant inside but we headed straight upstairs to the rooftop bar which had excellent cocktails and CB skyline views. I tried their bubble tea cocktail which was delicious and almost too easy to drink! We had some of their small plates such as the popcorn chicken and edamame which were delicious I would definitely return to try the restaurant downstairs.

We then walked round the corner to Sneaky Tony’s. After entering through a warehouse backdoor and giving security the password we entered a dimly lit and decadent rum bar with stag mount on the wall in tow.

While looking at the menu a waitress came over and gave us tickets “to their disco bar” down the corridor. Our friend had been to Sneaky Tony’s before and had never heard of the disco.

We walked down the hallway and into a fabulous disco room with plush chairs, disco balls, a DJ and bar. Turns out this was Toots Disco Bar. This night was so much fun, the DJ played mainly ABBA and other dance floor classics where you can easily dance the night away into the early hours (but it gets going around 9pm which is good for those Cinderella’s who can’t stay out too late).

Perth’s nightlife scene

When compared to places like Melbourne and Brisbane, Perth is often referred to having “no nightlife”. But if you’re not a fan of big super clubs and prefer bars, cocktails and smaller dance floors (which I certainly do) then Perth has a fantastic nightlife scene with Northbridge being one of the best suburbs for this.
