The Brecon Beacons offer a wide range of beautiful waterfalls, peaks and hikes. This guide shows Pink Gin Passport tried, tested and recommended spots.
Four Falls Waterfall trail
A popular spot, you can follow the crowd to see stunning waterfalls. One of them you can even walk behind which is a great experience!
Henrhyd Falls
Are you a batman fan? Well, this waterfall is the entrance to the Bat Cave in Dark Knight Rises. A nice easy walk from the free car park it’s a great way to spend an afternoon or morning. There is a farm next door, Helen’s Farm where you can feed alpacas, sheep and horses. It’s free entry but you can purchase eggs from the farm or leave a cash or card donation.

There’s various routes to take depending on your fitness needs or wants but all are breathtaking. Unfortunately it was very foggy when we walked up there but that in itself was very atmospheric. As with all walks up peaks bring warm clothing, waterproofs, hat and gloves. When I climbed Snowdon 2 years ago, I saw people with little cans of gin and tonic when they reached the top. Thought that was such a great idea I brought my own tinny of Malibu and Pineapple after the 90 minutes walk to the peak. (Please note, there was not intention to get drunk as that would be very dangerous!)

Red Kite Feeding Station
For £6 per person (best to bring cash as while there is a crd machine it depends on signal) you get to see the once almost extinct Red Kites up close. There is plenty of parking but I’d recommend arriving at least 30 minutes early before feeding time and to get a good spot. We visited at 2pm but their feeding times may change throughout the year so best to check their website.
Black Mountain Quarries
This viewpoint might be one of the most scenic drives I have done in my little Ford Ka. There were a number of Ferraris and Lamborghinis driving in the area along with motorbikes soaking up the fun, Top Gear-esque drive to the viewpoint (at such an altitude our ears popped). We sat and had our lunch here after visiting the Red Kite Feeding Station.

It was about a 30 minute gradual incline walk from the car park to the lake which was beautiful. You can walk further to the ridge but as there was heavy cloud we chose not too. Be warned the drive is a little tricky with very narrow and steep lanes but personally I enjoy those kind of drives.
