5 European food markets you need to try

While a three course meal is always a nice treat, sometimes you can’t beat tasty food and drinks from a food market. Here are some Pink Gin Passport tried and tested food markets across UK and Europe.

Camden Market, London

Camden is always buzzing and the food market around Camden Lock is no exception. Be sure to seek out Mac Factory mac and cheese, Stakehaus steak and chips (with chimchurrri!) and Uh- K Dogs & Juicy Korean corn dogs. After grabbing something to eat, you can sit and enjoy your feast along the canals or walk over to Regents Park for the rest of the afternoon.

Central Market Hall, Budapest

After a morning at the Szechenyi Thermal Bath Spas, grab some lunch at Budapest’s largest indoor food market. It’s a great opportunity to try the Hungarian delicacy Langos- deep fried bread with different options for toppings (my favourite was classic cheese!)

Borough Market, London

If you’re visiting The Shard or Tower of London, complete your day in London with a visit to Borough market. As well as delicious lunch options such as Whiskey Ginger burgers, or La Tua pasta there’s also so many things you can take home to enjoy throughout the week such as sourdough bread, cheeses or Bread Ahead donuts !

Sauveterre market, France

There are so many amazing markets in the South West of France. Many small towns have night markets on the weekend with local produce and wine and often live bands. A few years ago I went to a food and wine festival in the evening at Sauveterre which was amazing. Tasting all different wine whilst enjoying some oysters and my fave moules -frites – it was a great time!

Greenwich Market, London

Greenwich is a great day out and feels like a very different part of London. Visit Cutty Sark, the Royal Observatory then grab some lunch from the market. Pimp My Ramen do ramen burger buns which are amazing and something different!
